Police have arrested a prisoner, who was released from HMP Wandsworth by accident, after he was spotted by a member of the public.

Algerian sex offender Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, who is in the process of being deported after he overstayed his visa, was mistakenly released from custody on October 29.

He was serving a sentence for trespass with intent to steal, but had previously been convicted for indecent exposure.

The Met Police issued an update on Friday, November 7, confirming they had re-arrested the prisoner, more than a week after he was let out.

In an update on social media, the force said: "Officers have arrested Brahim Kaddour-Cherif who was released in error from HMP Wandsworth on October 29.
