BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- A Baton Rouge man who pleaded guilty to charges related to a fatal New Year's Day crash in 2024 was sentenced to 18 years.

The Livingston Parish Clerk of Court confirmed that Shawn Robertson, 33, was sentenced after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide, DWI second offense, reckless operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle under suspension, no seat belt and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Roberston's 18-year sentence includes five years to be served without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence, and he was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.
