LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — Federal officials have called for 4% cuts in air traffic in Las Vegas and other busy airports, ramping up to 10% over the next week.
In a release from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), officials detailed the temporary 10% reduction in flights at 40 high-traffic airports, including Las Vegas’s airport.
According to the agency, a 4% reduction in operations is in effect starting Friday. That reduction will ramp up to 6% on Tuesday, 8% by Thursday, and finally 10% by Friday, Nov. 14.
An FAA review of aviation safety data led to the reduction, which officials said indicated increased stress on the system. That stress increased risk, officials said.
