BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) -- The Diocese of Baton Rouge announced Friday that the tenure of its current Catholic schools superintendent will end this December.

The diocese said Dr. Mary Patricia "Pattie" Davis' tenure is set to end on Dec. 31, after serving in the role since June 2022. Dr. Cindy Ryals was appointed to serve as the next superintendent, effective Jan. 1.

Ryals currently serves as the assistant superintendent of schools. Her previous experience includes serving as principal of St. Alphonsus Catholic School in Greenwell Springs for 15 years and teaching at Catholic elementary schools for 20 years.
