CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — North Cedar Elementary celebrated the opening of a new inclusive playground on Thursday. The project was driven by sixth graders who dedicated the past year to fundraising and collaborating with local businesses.

Teachers expressed pride in their students' efforts to prioritize community well-being. "Doing something like this so young teaches them that they can have an impact," Abby Koch, a sixth grade teacher at North Cedar Elementary, said. "That when they care about something and put effort into it and they seek action for those things, they can make a difference in their community. And I think that will have an amazing impact on Cedar Falls as a whole."
