As reported earlier, the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Transportation made clear that airlines will be required to issue full refunds for canceled flights.
However, airlines wouldn't be forced to pay travelers' secondary costs like those for hotels, other transportation or meals.
Delta Air Lines customers are being warned via email that they should not expect to be reimbursed for hotel stays, rental cars and more, if they end up dealing with flight cancellations related to the federal government shutdown.
"Expense reimbursements are not available for flights that are delayed or canceled due to adverse events or other circumstances outside of Delta’s control such as this FAA Directive, including without limitation for hotels, rental cars, meals, ground transport
