Officials at Harrisburg International Airport say it’s too early to tell what effect reductions in flights at 40 of the nation’s largest airports could have on its operation.

“The airlines are working on determining which flights are impacted and which ones aren’t,” said HIA spokesman Scott Miller. “They will communicate with the impacted passengers via their app, text, and or email.”

The Federal Aviation Administration this week announced that it is ordering a 10% reduction in flights at 40 high-traffic airports across the country due to the government shutdown.

 A 4% reduction in operations took effect on Friday. The reduction in operations will ramp up to 6% by Tuesday, 8% by Thursday, and 10% by Nov. 14,
