SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - For the first time in 20 years, Spartanburg County officially has a new sheriff.
Bill Rhyne says he’s ready to step into the new role, focusing on transparency and trust.
Rhyne, who is a retired state trooper, ran unopposed after making it out of a crowded republican primary field in August. Two weeks later, he won the runoff.
On Tuesday, Rhyne was officially selected after getting more than 21,000 votes. He was sworn in as sheriff at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Rhyne swore in deputies at 3 p.m.
