BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - This weekend kicks off the modern gun deer hunting season in Kentucky.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) said its their biggest hunting season of the year. It lasts from Nov. 8 until Nov. 23.

Deer hunters have already been able to hunt deer with the archery and crossbow seasons underway.

KDFWR said last year hunters harvested around 150,000 deer.
