FARGO — A former nonprofit executive director accused of embezzling more than $136,000 from the organization over the course of nearly five years has agreed to plead guilty to a reduced charge in the case.

The plea deal between 53-year-old Cheri Gerken, of Moorhead, and Cass County prosecutors includes a 60-day sentence of electronic home monitoring, along with two years of supervised probation, 80 hours of community service and a restitution payment of $3,179.22 to Presentation Partners in Housing, a nonprofit that assists homeless people.

Originally charged in April with Class A felony theft of over $50,000, a crime which carries with a possible 20-year prison sentence, Gerken will admit to an amended charge of Class C felony theft of $1,000-$10,000, which Cass County prosecutors file
