ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -Schnucks has filed a lawsuit against its former deli meat provider, claiming a deadly Listeria outbreak in 2024 cost the grocer customers and money.
Last summer, Boar’s Head recalled liverwurst and other meats due to Listeria contamination.
Schnucks claimed in the lawsuit it saw a decline in foot traffic and premium meat sales, citing what it said amounted to $1.5 million in losses.
The new lawsuit is seeking a trial and at least $25,000 in damages.
The outbreak left at least 10 people dead across the country.
A High Ridge couple previously sued Schnucks during the outbreak, claiming they became deathly ill after eating liverwurst.
The grocer has since ended its agreement with Boar’s Head and now sells Dietz and Watson products.
