AUBURN, Maine — The Auburn Police Department is urging residents and visitors to lock their vehicles and remove valuables after an uptick in motor vehicle burglaries over the past few weeks.
Police said all reported incidents involved unlocked vehicles. Items were stolen, or the vehicles were rummaged through.
“Park in well-lit areas, LOCK your vehicle, and remove valuable items, even if you’re only leaving your vehicle unattended for a short time,” the department advised in a social media post.
Officers also reminded residents not to leave packages or purchases visible inside cars, particularly as the holiday season approaches.
