HARTFORD, Conn. — The No. 4 UConn men’s basketball team showed the country just how dangerous it could be this season during a 110-47 thrashing of the UMass Lowell River Hawks.
From the jump, the Huskies’ offense was sizzling, and their defense was stifling. UConn opened the game on a 37-2 run.
Despite converting several free throws, UMass Lowell didn’t make a shot from the field until 6:19 remained in the first half.
That basket came on the River Hawks’ 18th attempt. Even after that, they still trailed by 41 points.
The Huskies led 64-17 at halftime and ultimately ran away with a 63-point victory in their first regular season game in downtown Hartford since the building was renovated and rebranded as PeoplesBank Arena.
