SENECA, S.C. —

A restaurant known for its "famous homemade hamburgers" is quickly becoming a place where families in need of food and groceries can ease their worries for a little while.

The uncertainty looms for many families amid issues with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and the government shutdown.

Gary Durkee, owner of Arnold’s Restaurant, said two Arnold's locations in Seneca and Anderson are two hubs where people and families who are hungry can show up to get fed. Durkee said it was time to take action and there will be no questions asked if you're hungry.

In a Facebook post that has since gained some traction, Durkee said the community has truly stepped up in a big way. Donations have continued to pour in.
