A commemoration event for local veterans will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Pierson Library in Shelburne.

The gathering will take place before the library opens to the public, according to a community announcement.

The event aims to honor veterans and their survivors, particularly those who served in the U. S. Armed Forces between 1955 and 1975. Bob Stock, a veterans outreach specialist with the South Burlington Vet Center, will present commemorative lapel pins to veterans and survivors from this era.

The lapel pins were authorized by Congress, established by the secretary of defense, and launched by President Barack Obama in 2012. Veterans who have not yet received this commemoration are encouraged to attend.
