Battle of the Badges raises over $20K for STARS

As local fire crews traded their hoses for hockey sticks on October 25, the Battle of the Badges hockey game between Austin and MacGregor Fire Departments drew a full house and raised much‑needed support for STARS Air Ambulance.

The friendly matchup between neighbouring departments helped showcase how small communities can team up for a bigger mission, raising $20,190 for STARS.

Local departments unite for good

Chris Leckie, Fire Chief of the MacGregor Fire Department, says the evening was about much more than competition. He notes that it “was a great evening” and that “everybody worked their butts off, right from the drop of the puck.”
