Gov. Kathy Hochul is urging residents and directing state agencies to prepare ahead of the first lake effect snow event of the season.

In citing preliminary forecasts from the National Weather Service , Hochul’s office issued a warning on Friday that areas around Buffalo could see up to six inches of snow. Meanwhile, the heaviest snow bands expected to potentially form along the Chautauqua Ridge and Tug Hill Plateau areas could bring up to a foot of snow.

Not only will it be snowy, but in some areas “feels like” temperatures may even dip into the low teens, according to forecasts.
