Stephen Crean (61), whose mother is from Co Dublin and father from Co Roscommon, had planned to fly to Austria last Wednesday to watch his beloved Nottingham Forest take on SK Sturm Graz in the Europa League.

But Mr Crean was left unable to travel after being stabbed six times in the attack on the London North Eastern Railway Doncaster to London Kings Cross train on November 1.

The football fan, who is also a long-time supporter of the Ireland team, recalled leaving his seat to confront alleged attacker Anthony Williams.
