LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11, will be marked by several community events honoring local heroes and their families.
Retired Vietnam and Iraq War veteran First Sgt. Ruben Buitrón said the day holds deep meaning for many. “There’s all kinds of events and it’s a very significant day for me and others because it gives us the opportunity to acknowledge and say thank you to so many veterans for all the sacrifices that they have done for our great country,” Buitrón said. He also emphasized appreciation for “the spouses, the children that are the support network for our soldiers.”
Sponsored by American Legion Post 59, one of the main highlights is the Veterans Day Parade, taking place from 10 to 11 a.m., with lineup at 9:30 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church,
