A woman was grazed by gunfire outside the Justice A. A. Birch Building in what police believe was a road rage shooting.
Metro Nashville Police were called to the area outside the front lobby at about 8:40 a.m. Nov. 10.
Don Aaron, spokesperson for the department, said there was a traffic backup at the drop off zone, cars were honking and drivers were becoming impatient.
"Someone decided it to go to the extreme, get out and fire a gun" Aaron said.
The preliminary investigation shows that a passenger of a grey Dodge Journey, outside the courthouse, fired at least one shot.
A 50-year-old woman was grazed in her shoulder area. She went into the courthouse to get help and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
