SAN JACINTO COUNTY, Texas — A search is underway on the Trinity River after a father disappeared while trying to rescue two children from a capsized kayak, according to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the Camilla boat ramp Sunday evening, after witnesses reported that two juveniles’ kayak overturned in choppy river conditions.
Officials say the father entered the water in an attempt to save his son and his son’s friend but did not resurface.
Both children were later recovered, according to the sheriff’s office. The search for the father was suspended overnight and resumed at 7 a.m. Monday.
