The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued multiple weather alerts across the mid-Atlantic region, warning residents of freezing temperatures, gale-force winds, and significant snowfall in higher elevations through early Tuesday.
Freezing and gale warnings in Southern Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay
Beginning at 11 p.m. Monday, freeze warnings will be in effect for King George, St. Mary’s and Calvert counties, lasting through 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Temperatures are expected to dip below freezing, ending the growing season and posing a risk to any remaining outdoor vegetation.
At the same time, gale warnings have been issued for the entire Chesapeake Bay, the tidal Potomac River, and adjoining waterways, starting at midnight and continuing through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
