ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department spoke on Monday about the crime stats in the city for the first nine months of 2025. According to the department's numbers, crime rates are continuing to drop. They credit new technology being used by police, an increase in officers, and civilian programs like Albuquerque Community Safety and police service aides.
APD Chief Harold Medina estimates that there will be about 3,300 cars stolen in Albuquerque by the end of the year, a sharp decrease from recent years. "I want you to take into comparison, when we started working these operations in 2018, the area was focusing somewhere, I think it was about 10,000 cars that were being stolen.
