(KRON) -- Felimon Torres, a now 61-year-old man who was convicted of raping a North Bay woman after breaking into her home in 1996, was denied parole on Thursday, according to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office. The parole board reached its decision in part due to his continued denial of the rape.
Torres broke into the victim’s home while armed with a knife, entered her bedroom where she was sleeping with her small child, and demanded money, according to prosecutors. He then bound the woman’s hands and raped her in front of the child.
Torres was sentenced in April 2000 to 25 years to life in prison. On Nov. 6, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s (CDCR) Board of Parole Hearings conducted his first parole eligibility hearing.
