A 16-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries when she was thrown from a moped that crashed on Route 15 in New Canaan on Monday.
Troopers responded to Route 15 South at the Exit 13 off-ramp after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a crash involving a moped just before 1:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Police .
A preliminary investigation found that the moped was being driven south by a 17-year-old New Haven boy. As the bike approached the exit, the teen reportedly merged into the exit lane and lost control, crashing the moped and leading to the girl being thrown from the bike, according to state police.
The girl, who police said was from New Haven, was taken in an ambulance to Norwalk Hospital, state police said. She was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital
