MCDONALD, Pa. —
A new armed forces monument at South Fayette High School, created by a freshman, was unveiled on Veterans Day to honor those who have served in the military.
The school district held two ceremonies to honor veterans Tuesday: one at the high school and the other at the elementary school. Advertisement
Ed Stoker, the junior vice commander of the VFW Oakdale Post, was in attendance and praised students: "It's really heartwarming to see that the youth still have an appreciation of what servicemen and women do."
During the ceremony, a new monument was presented. Freshman Jasim Khilji created the monument as his Eagle Scout service project.
