BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - North Dakota State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler filed a letter of retirement as she prepares to take a job at the U.S. Department of Education.
A press release by the Department of Public Instruction states it would be effective the morning of Nov. 24. The move comes as the government shutdown ended Wednesday night.
Baesler will serve as an Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education.
“I’m deeply proud of the team we built and the culture we created. We shifted from being a regulatory agency to a customer-service organization that puts students and their families at the center. Our educators know we’re here to support their success, and lawmakers and the public trust us because we’ve earned that credibility through results,” said Baesler.
