New Hampshire Supreme Court Justice Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi notified the court in a letter Friday that she will no longer participate in case assignments, deliberations or judicial decision-making prior to retiring early next year.
The notification avoids potential problematic situations involving a judge convicted of a crime deliberating on criminal cases — and the questions that scenario could raise.
Hantz Marconi pleaded no contest in Merrimack County Superior Court in October to a misdemeanor charge of soliciting then-Gov. Chris Sununu “to secure a governmental privilege and/or advantage” in an investigation into her husband, Geno Marconi, now the former director of the Division of Ports and Harbors in the Pease Development Authority.
