Changes have come to what schools can teach students in regards to health education.
Thursday night, the Michigan Department of Education voted to revise health education standards for the first time since 2007.
Since the standards last update, A.I., TikTok, and more have become involved in the lives of students.
This prompted a revision to the standards to provide specifics for districts on what they can cover.
Michigan Department of Education Deputy Superintendent Dr. Diane Golzynski, said that the standards include physical activity, nutrition, drugs, vaping, alcohol, mental health, and social emotional health.
She adds that a part of that standard is sex education.
