VIVIAN, La. -- A Vivian police officer has been shot and a man suspected in the shooting is finally in custody following a hours-long standoff.
Caddo Parish sheriff's officials on the scene have not provided an update on the officer's condition since the shooting happened.
Downtown Vivian was essentially shut down Friday night as more than 50 CPSO deputies and even more state troopers and U.S. Marshals agents swarmed the tiny north Caddo Parish town in response to an officer needs assistance call.
It happened at about 5:30 p.m. on North Pine Street as two Vivian police officers went to a home to serve a warrant, Caddo Parish sheriff's Lt. Breck Scott said.
A person inside fired at the officers, who returned fire, Scott said.
The officer who was shot was taken to North Caddo Medical Ce
