Diggers at the former Interbrew site paving the way for a new Costco
People driving along one of the busiest roads in Gloucester are finally seeing work begin on the construction of a huge new Costco store.
The American wholesale retail giant was granted permission to build a new store in Barnwood, along with an 18 bay petrol station with tyre-fitting shop, last December.
But for much of 2025, the former Interbrew site off Eastern Avenue didn't see much in the way of work .
Now, however, land clearance work is taking place at the eyesore site, which had been vacant for seven years.
The new 13,109sqm store is expected to create up to 250 jobs and will be on a busy road that already has a McDonald's, Starbucks, Lidl, Halfords, The Range, PureGym and the AirHop Adventure and Trampo
