The Peel police hate crime unit has charged a 22-year-old Brampton man after a road rage collision left a pedestrian with serious injuries.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 8 and began as a road rage confrontation, according to a news release from Peel police on Saturday. The accused allegedly followed the victim to a Brampton residence where he shouted racially charged comments and struck the victim his vehicle, police say.

The victim was dragged about five metres before the accused drove away, according to police, and the victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The accused is facing multiple charges including with dangerous driving, aggravated assault, and failure to remain at the scene.
