A young Scottish woman who died alongside four others in a serious two-car crash in the Republic of Ireland on Saturday morning has been named by police.

Chloe Hipson, 21, was killed in the incident on Ardee Road on the L3168, in the townland of Gibstown in Dundalk, County Louth.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving calls just after 9am on November 15, with a major incident response initiated.

The Gardaí, the Irish police force, confirmed that three men and two women in a Volkswagen Golf died in the crash.

They have since confirmed that one of the victims was Chloe, who was from Bellshill in North Lanarkshire, the Daily Record reports .

The other occupants of the Golf have been named as Chloe McGee, 23, Alan McCluskey, 23, Dillon Commins, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21.
