Alabama football suffered too many self-inflicted wounds to beat Oklahoma on Saturday. The Crimson Tide, which had previously controlled its destiny with regards to earning a spot in the SEC championship game and a bye in the College Football Playoff’s first round, fell 23-21, absorbing its second loss of the 2025 season.

After the defeat, experts predicting bowl games kept UA in the playoff. However, it’s hard to find a scenario where Alabama won’t have to play a first round game.
