Newark Police are searching for a suspect—and possibly multiple individuals, believed to be involved in a shots-fired incident in the city’s South Ward Sunday night. The gunfire erupted around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Pomona Avenue.
A ShotSpotter activation alerted officers, who arrived to find several shell casings scattered across the roadway.
Police conducted a thorough search of the neighborhood for potential victims, but no injuries were reported.
According to preliminary information, approximately four suspects fled the scene in a vehicle and remain at large.
The motive for the shooting is unknown, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
