PHILADELPHIA -- It’s tough to find silver linings in losses like that.
But the Detroit Lions and their feisty defense accomplished that task. They played strongly from start to finish, while the offense couldn’t put one foot in front of the other in the 16-9 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.
The defense continued to give the offense a chance right up until the final couple of minutes. Philadelphia, much like the Lions, was brutal on third down and mostly lifeless on offense. The Eagles converted only four third-down conversions across 15 attempts. They had only one drive of 50-plus yards, settling for three short field goals.
Outside of a 1-yard touchdown, the Lions handled the “tush push” better than most, too.
