New research has revealed that hormonal contraceptive pills could be concealing crucial symptoms of two serious conditions affecting women's health; endometriosis and polycystic ovarian syndrome ( PCOS ). This means that thousands of women could be facing delayed diagnoses , which may have long-term effects on their health and fertility. ‌

The symptoms of these two conditions are similar to the side effects of hormonal contraception or may be masked by the pill. These include heavy or irregular periods and pains. ‌

Research from TFP Fertility found that 66% of women with PCOS or endometriosis say hormonal contraception delayed their diagnosis. ‌
