Jim Burns said his photography technique has changed over 40 years, and in 2026 one of his works will be among those of 12 photographers included in the full-size 2026 Arizona Game and Fish Department's wildlife calendar.

"I've been at this for40 years now, on and off, while raising a family and pursuing a career in a totally different field," he said.

"My technique has changed over time from running around trying to shoot as many things as I could to slowing down and spending much more time observing how animals survive and interact with their environment and other species."

Burns' photo and 11 other winning images are published in Arizona Wildlife Views ’ full-size 2026 wildlife calendar.
