BENNINGTON – The King’s Knit-Wit, which sells yarn, knitting supplies, baked goods, coffee and wine, opened at 520 Main Street last February. It is a continuation of a business that was founded in the previous decade in Cartersville, Ga., but entered a state of suspended animation when its two owners moved to China on teaching assignments and later returned to classrooms in their native California.

“In Georgia, this was a necessity because we could not find full-time teaching jobs,” said Patrick Kincaid on a recent Saturday morning. “Now? This is the happiest I’ve been in 10 years. I love it here.”

His spouse and business partner, Doug Cardoza, agreed.
