Utah’s ski resorts are dropping en masse — because the snow is not.

As a set of storms once expected to drop close to a foot of snow at the state’s highest elevations over the weekend dwindled — instead leaving between four inches and a trace in most locations — so have hopes that ski and snowboard season will begin this week in the northern half of the state.

On Monday afternoon, Park City Mountain joined a growing roster of resorts that have had to push back their projected season starts. And Solitude Mountain Resort, usually among the first in the state to open , announced its third delay this season.

Solitude has now pegged Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, as its targeted season opener, according to an email it sent Monday to season passholders. Park City Mountain has not set a new
