A man has been jailed for more than 11 years after attempting to kill two people with a machete in separate incidents in Inverness . ‌

Malcolm Macleod, 31, was found guilty of the attempted murders of Jay Williamson, 29, and Brian MacLeod, 47, at the High Court in Edinburgh . ‌

In January last year, Macleod targeted Williamson with a machete on the city's Gilbert Street which saw his victim taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment to serious but non-life threatening injuries. ‌

Four months later, in May, Malcolm Macleod turned his machete on Brian MacLeod on Dunabban Road, also in the city centre.

Brian MacLeod was also taken to hospital for treatment. Both men were left with "life changing injuries" following what detectives described as "shocking and viole
