The Met Office has issued a rarely seen amber snow warning.

The UK is facing freezing temperatures and snow blizzards , with multiple yellow weather warnings in place today as well as on Wednesday and Thursday. The weather over the next seven days will be "markedly colder", with "harsh frost" expected later this week, according to the Met Office .

The amber snow warning, in force for much of Thursday, warns of "significant accumulations" across the North York Moors and parts of the Yorkshire Wolds. The Met Offic said much as 25cm (10 inches) of snow could fall.
