Some northern areas of New Jersey may get a brief taste of winter Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, thanks to a weak storm system that may bring a light dusting of snow .
Forecasters from the National Weather Service said the storm system will bring a light, cold rain to most of New Jersey tonight into early Wednesday morning, with the heaviest precipitation expected across central and southern portions of the state.
The rain is expected to develop after midnight, spreading from west to east across the region.
Most sections of New Jersey will see around a tenth of an inch or less due to the fast-moving nature of the system, forecasters said. The precipitation should taper off from northwest to southeast through Wednesday morning.
