A HMP Birmingham prisoner was found dead in his cell just days after he 'turned a corner' and told officers he wanted to 'get off drugs'.
Derrion Adams, described as a 'sensitive soul' by his family, was discovered in cardiac arrest beside tampered vapes in his small, shared cell on October 31 last year.
A 'code red' was prompted on the K-wing when the 29-year-old was seen 'face down' and unresponsive on the floor. A vape suspected of being used to inhale spice - a synthetic cannabinoid commonly known as Black Mamba - was found beneath his bed.
This week, a jury inquest into his death concluded, with Area Coroner Emma Brown confirming his cause of death was drug-related. He died from complications of two different batches of synthetic cannabinoid, the court heard.
