Shetland's Ashley Jensen is back on our screens tonight (Wednesday 19 November) as lead detective Ruth Calder in the hit BBC crime drama which returned earlier this month for its tenth season. The Scots actress, 56, who originally hails from Annan in Dumfries, joined the show in 2023 following Douglas Henshall's exit as DI Jimmy Perez. ‌

Season 10 of Shetland sees DI Calder and DI Alison 'Tosh' McIntosh, played by Alison O'Donnell, investigate the sinister murder of an elderly female social worker in the fictional town of Lunniswick, which is actually a real-life village in Shetland called Levenwick.
