The Signal Mountain community is grieving the loss of a longtime faculty member and soccer coach who passed away last weekend after suffering a heart attack. Friends and loved ones are speaking out about the legacy he leaves.

James Paul Patrick Daverson, also known by many as 'Coach D,' is described as a role model, incredible coach, and an all-around light to everyone in his life.

Loved ones say before all else, Daverson was a devoted husband and father to his wife, Tracy, and daughters Jenny and Madeline, whom friends say he fostered special relationships with.

"Watching him talk about his daughters, you could tell how proud he was of them, and he showed that same energy toward his players, like when he gave you a hug or congratulated you on something you did in a game," Emmaline Brad
