ANN ARBOR, MI - University of Michigan Health will hold its largest single-day blood drive on Sunday Nov. 23 at Michigan Stadium.
The “Be a Hero at the Big House” event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Jack Roth Stadium Club as part of the 43rd annual Blood Battle between the Ann Arbor university and Ohio State University. The competition between the rival schools tracks blood donations collected during October and November drives.
Holiday periods typically see a decline in blood donations, making pre-season collection efforts essential, according to Dr. Robert Ernst, chief health officer for the University of Michigan.
“The need for blood donations is constant and can be particularly acute around the holidays when donations tend to decrease. Increasing the supply now is critical,”
