SHREVEPORT, La. – Six educators will represent Bossier Parish Schools as the 2026-27 Teachers and New Teachers of the Year.
Teachers of the Year are educators who have been in the classroom for at least two years. New Teachers of the Year are first-year educators who demonstrate excellence in their field, as well as leadership and innovation, and positively impact student growth and achievement. The process for selecting a Louisiana Teacher and New Teacher of the Year starts at the school level, then advances to the district. The next step is the state level.
Bossier Parish Teachers of the Year
Katie Douet is the Bossier Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year. She is a fifth grade teacher at W.T. Lewis Elementary and was honored with the title in 2021 at her home parish school, Teche El
