A disturbing discovery at a public housing complex in Brooklyn has left residents shaken and searching for answers.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call just after 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bay View Houses in Canarsie. When they arrived, they found an unconscious and unresponsive male infant. However, sources told NY1 the victim did not appear to be a full-term newborn, but was a fetus.

“Make me feel destroyed. That sucks. I can't believe it. It happens. I feel sorry for the mother. She's probably going through a lot of stuff, but it happens you know,” said Charles Johnson, a resident at the Bay View Houses.

Sources said the fetus was discovered inside a black bag under a pile of leaves. It remains unclear how long the body had been there or what led to the incident.
