BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Baton Rouge Fire Department says an unattended pot on the stove was determined to be the cause of a house fire on Friday morning, Nov. 21.
Firefighters responded to the scene in the 11100 block of Tams Drive around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, smoke and flames could be seen inside the home through a front window. Crews worked to extinguish the fire while searching the home for occupants.
A child was able to get out of the home before they arrived, while an adult was located inside during the search and also able to exit safely.
Officials say the fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to the rest of the home. The kitchen, where the fire originated, was damaged, however.
No injuries were reported.
